Support Groups & Group Therapy (Not currently meeting)
While individual counseling is very beneficial, support groups and group therapy are other powerful venues of change and growth. Clients involved in group therapy and support groups can expect to gain understanding, support, and encouragement from others with similar concerns and circumstances. Group members provide differing perspectives, ideas, and viewpoints, and allow the client to see themselves as "not so different" just because they have a problem. Many people are apprehensive at the thought of sharing to a group of strangers, but the group rapidly becomes a type of surrogate family. After ending their group membership, many members report feeling the benefit of their group experience far exceeded their expections and some even experience a sense of loss on leaving.
My group leadership experience involves directing Cognitive-Behavioral Group Therapy with members dealing with depression, anxiety, panic disorders, family issues and chronic pain/medical issues.
Call for information on joining a group.
